Church-Based Team FAQs

What is a Church-Based Team (CBT)?

A CBT is formed intentionally to be sent from a local fellowship to plant churches among the unreached. CBTs are born out of each local church’s vision to plant churches globally by equipping and sending teams of its members.

How many people are on a CBT?

Typically three to ten people, so that the team is manageable and includes a plurality of gifts and skills.

How long will it take to equip and send a CBT?

It can vary greatly between two to six years. This includes time to identify team members, equip and train them for ministry, and raise financial support.

Where will the team serve?

Our priorty for CBTs is among Muslim peoples, but we will prayerfully work with you to align your church’s vision with opportunities on any field. Our CBT coaches are experienced in working with churches through this process.

Is our church big enough to support a CBT?

Size and age do not dictate a church’s capacity for sending a CBT. More important is committed leadership that trusts God to work through all kinds of churches.

What are some of the benefits of CBTs?

Sending a CBT can revitalize your church’s mission participation! A CBT involves several people from your church, so there are more relationships involved and a greater connection to the ministry on the field. The support and care of the CBT is shared by a greater number of sending-church members. The CBT benefits from having more resources and people committed to them. Your church benefits from a deeper connection to the whole team and the people they are reaching for Christ.
