| Europe – Urban Backpacking: Opportunity Dates: May 30 – July 19, 2012Place/People Groups: Spain, Italy, France Overview: Are you a street-smart team player with a heart for living out Romans 12:1-2 in context of community? Does the opportunity to share your faith thrill you as much as the adventure of backpacking through some of Europe’s leading cities? Do you believe in the power of prayer enough to invest part of your summer praying with and for the people of Europe? World Team’s urban backpacking internship will take you on a journey from Madrid to Milan to Paris. Experienced church planters will paint a picture of the religious history and current cultural shifts in each city. You’ll plug in to outreach ministries that are part of long-term church planting efforts, so relationships you spark will have a place to grow and be nurtured. Your own faith will grow as your team eats, sleeps, travels, studies and serves together. A mentor will help you process what you’re experiencing, especially in light of your future ministry ambitions. World Team has a long history of church planting on each of these fields. Take the opportunity to ask missionaries and national believers about the realities of ministry and everyday life in Europe. The outreach focuses on the Spanish, French, Italian and Muslim immigrant populations. Trip Details: After an orientation at our US Sending Center near Philadelphia, you’ll spend two weeks with church planting teams in each city: Madrid, Milan and Paris. Accommodations will be hostels or private homes. Travel between cities will be by train. The internship concludes back in Philadelphia for a debrief session and wrap-up. Because the team will be on the go, interns should pack light, remain flexible and be responsible. Best Candidate: Europe interns must have completed at least one year of university studies and have some knowledge of French, Italian or Spanish language.
