Warrington, Pennsylvania – September 13, 2010

After much prayer and an extensive search, the World Team U.S. Board of Directors announced the unanimous appointment of Dr. Kevin L. Oessenich as U.S. Director for World Team. Dr. Oessenich will take office on September 20, 2010 after concluding 18 years at Philadelphia Biblical University where he launched the School of Lifelong Learning and served as its Dean.
“I’ve come to understand the missional nature of the Church, which focuses on living and sharing the Gospel in both local and global contexts,” Kevin said. “It is through this work that people, culture, and societies are changed for His Glory. The Church glorifies God by working together to reach the unreached in our local communities and throughout the world.”
Kevin’s leadership experience and passion for the missional nature of the local Church were key to his selection. He brings 30 years of professional experience and education, developing skills in administration, counseling, leadership, and ministry. The transition from academia to global missions is a natural one; an outgrowth of many years of relationships with missionaries, serving as an elder at Davisville Church in Southampton, PA, and a strong conviction that God works primarily through His Church.
A trip to Cambodia in 2008 expanded Oessenich’s view of his role as a church leader regarding missions. The trip helped clarify three areas of concern that church leaders need to address: 1) the health of supporting churches, 2) the stability of sending agencies, and 3) the resources needed for families, particularly in the area of education. Kevin looks forward to leading World Team’s U.S. Sending Center, providing essential support to a talented and diverse missionary family while contributing to church planting movements among peoples who would otherwise be isolated from the Gospel.
Kevin holds degrees from Philadelphia Biblical University, Rider University and earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership focusing on administration and adult learning from Immaculata University.
Kevin and his wife Cheryl have been friends of World Team for many years, enjoying their role as supporters and senders. They have two grown children and are actively engaged in their local community.
